Diamonds are the precious gems with the most prominence in our fine jewellery line, but the truth is there are many other precious stones that are part of our universe. Here are some of the most commonly used stones:
- Topaz. It is a precious stone widely used in the world of jewelry. The motive for this is based on its beauty and hardness. There are many types of topaz: blue, yellow, pink, fume … It has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale.
- Spinel. Spinel can materialize in several different shades: from white to blue, through green and ending with red. The latter is the most admired, as it bears a resemblance to ruby. Its hardness is 8 on the Mohs scale.
- Quartz. Also known as rock crystal. It is widely recognized for its transparency and low price. It is one of the gemstones most widely used in jewellery. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
- Citrine. Citrines are a variant of quartz, and stand out for their lemon yellow colour, as you can guess by their name. Its hardness on the Mohs scale is 7.
- Amethysts. It is the most valued variety of quartz on the market. Amethysts can have several different shades: yellow, transparent … Although their most appreciated colour is violet lilac. Its beauty is greatly admired in the world of jewellery. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
- Sapphires. They are characterized by their striking blue colour. Although there are sapphires with other tonalities, the one that has more value and is most admired is blue sapphire. Its hardness is 9 on the Mohs scale.
